Color Challenges

Yes, I finally got this stamp set!  I've been wanting it for a long time.  I finally ordered it with my SAB benefits.  After using my markers on the stamp, I spritzed the stamp and the paper with water and then stamped it down.  I love the watercolor effect that the technique gives.  Isn't it fun?  For the color combo, I used CAS127 and the sketch is from SC342, although I've switched the layering on the bottom.  It happened to work better for this card.
and this card was made for my brother-in-law's birthday.  It's late, but hopefully the step card is worth it.  I really wanted to do the hot air balloon floating through the air and thought that this card style would lend itself well to the look.  I used CC333 for the color combo, being liberal with my addition of two neutrals.  The tag pulling out of the side of the step card is inspired by the last edition of Papercrafting.

Speaking of Papercrafting, just wait until you see what else inspired me!  I had so much fun with the new Ronald McDonald House stamp set and used the inspiration to complete the card.  You're going to love it!

Delicate Doilies

Look!  I was able to play with my new stuff!  It's about time!  Yes, it took me awhile, but late is better than nothing.  Delicate Doilies is a new stamp set from the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  The colors are based on a color challenge from Stampin' Addicts SACC105.  I did forget to add the Crumb Cake color, so I'm going to have to try again.  And now, looking at it on the computer, I should have added a touch more Early Espresso to tie it in better.  Oh well.  Just pretend like there's more on there, k?  Oh, and the layout is for SASC102 from Stampin' Addicts.  I kept the background plain white because of the busy-ness of the stamp set and colors.  All right.  Back to work.  I have to clean the tent trailer.  We just returned from camping and it was muddy and wet!

Plant a Little Hope

Ouch!  I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted!  Well, I have a good excuse.  The day the kids got out of school, we left for 10 days in Florida.  Then, after being home for 6 days, we left again for a family reunion in Montana.  We've been home now for 4 days, so I'd better post now, while I have the chance!  This is a card that I quickly whipped up for a birthday party that my son went to.  I really love using the nature stamp sets to make masculine cards.  This stamp set is called Plant Hope.  The variations on the palm leaves are from the marker dropping more ink in areas when you're going against the fronds.  I had to have a ribbon to add some definition, so decided to wind some Hemp Twine around the Olive Grosgrain and tie it off.  That also helps to tie in the Crumb Cake color.  The greeting is from On Your Birthday.  Have you had success lately with making masculine cards out of nature sets?  We'd love to seem them.  Feel free to link to them here on a comment.
