Another Virtual Playdate...Wanna Play?

Yes, the three Amigas are at it again.  We couldn't find the time to get together in person, so we decided to challenge each other.  I've linked their blogs, so please go check out their cards for the challenges, too.

This was my challenge...to make a valentine without red or pink.  Extra credit given to those who didn't use a valentine stamp set.  I hope this qualifies for that.  :-)  My DH knows how much I love my hot drinks, so I'm sure this will let him know how much he means to me.  Too bad the texture on the hearts didn't come through on the photo.  Oh well.  The color scheme is from SACC80 at stampinaddicts.com and the layout is SASC82 from the same place!

Joanne's challenge was to make a valentine candy holder...something 3-D.  Well, I decided it was time to get  out my much-neglected matchbox die.  I use the frames quite often, but not the matchbox so much.  The window was cut out with my tags sizzlit and a window sheet is inside to keep the candy from falling out.  1/8" taffeta ties it all together and the heart were punched out of the red glitter cardstock.  i LOVE that stuff!!!!!

The last challenge was Sharon's.  We were to make a card using only the neutrals family.  My original plan was to use Sahara, Black, and White, but that didn't work since I wanted to use my Love Letters DP.  I'm really happy with this card!  It's my first playdate with this stamp set (which I earned through SAB) and it was really fun to use!  The layout is SC319 from splitcoaststampers.com.

Well, that's it for now.  I hope you've enjoyed this post.  Please play along with the Three Amigas.  Post somewhere online and show us what you've made.  We'd love to see it!

Blessings
Julie

Color Combo Challenge

My friend Joanne (aka sleepyinseattle) is the hostess for today's color combo challenge 305 on splitcoaststampers.  It's a perfect combo for a Valentine card.  And since I don't usually do traditional Valentines (I like the unusual), I decided to do a non-traditional layout.  I glued a couple of scraps of Cherry Cobbler and Melon Mambo on the the Pretty In Pink background, then glued on my main images, then sent the whole thing through the Big Shot with my Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder from Stampin' Up!  I'm not usually a pink person so this was definitely a challenge for me, but I do like the way it turned out.  So, what can YOU do with this color combo?  I'd love to see your creations.

Thanks for stopping by the Stamping Station.

Blessings,
Julie

Things I Love....

You know, sometimes simple is more fun! I love the look of black and white and this Designer Series Paper from the new mini catalog is wonderful. The name of the paper pack is Night and Day...now isn't that appropriate? I think it's supposed to be a semi-Halloween themed paper, but I really love it for regular cards. Click here to see the paper pack. Ummm...yeah....I'll be having a lot of fun with this one! This stamp set is called Things I Love and it's one of the sets that we received free for attending convention. YES!!! Another wonderful benefit of being a SU! demo is the free sets! It's hard to see in the photo, but the circles are lifted up with dimensionals...it's quite a fun effect. "things i love" was stamped in VersaMark and then daubed with white chalk from my Stampin' Pastels. I love the chalkboard look that this has. I purposely left the white "halo" around the words so that it would look like a well-loved chalkboard. A bit of black & white gingham finishes it off. So...what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by the Stamping Station. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Julie
