Sale-A-Bration! Sweet! Stems, that is!

Yummy! That's the SAB stamp set that the swirl and sentiment are from. SAB? Sale-A-Bration! Here's a card that I'm going to swap with. Hope the other demonstrators like it. I used Sweet Stems for the flower image and colored it in with marker. To finish it off, I gave it a hand drawn frame with my marker and used my color spritzer on the background. I used my crimper on the Lilac piece. I stamped the swirl in VersaMark and then Lilac, then down on the paper to emboss it with Clear EP. With Love was colored with markers and punched with the Word Window, then dotted with a marker. The background on the Pink Passion is the Sanded Background stamp. Add a few rhinestone brads, a bow attached with a mini glue dot and voila! Finished! Looks like a lot of work, but very simple. :-)
Colors are White, Pink Passion, Lovely Lilac, Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise.

Three Amigas and Color Combo Challenges

Here's a double challenge card! The Three Amigas challenge for this week was to use a layout that you can use at any time. For me it's the pic on the left, saying on the right. Very basic. Now throw in this week's color challenge of Caramel, Coral, and Olive and you have card! I was doubtful about this color combo at first, but it does seem to work! I stamped the dress from Humor in High Heels 3 times and cut out the dress and flower to paper piece it. For the frame, I used chipboard, covered it in classic Caramel (because I didn't have craft), then clear embossed it.
If you'd like to play along with the Three Amigas, just make a card, post it online and then leave a comment here with the link. Or you can post it on SCS and type TAWC in the key words.
Supplies, Cameo, Olive, Caramel, White cardstock, Haiku Designer Paper, chipboard, clear embossing powder, Sizzix Tween Lattice texture plate

Inspiration and Three Amigas Challenges In One

Well, I'm on time for the Inspiration Challenge on SCS, but had to wait until the end of the week to make my Three Amigas Weekly Challenge ...sigh... so here is my submission for both! I was inspired by this card. I chose to just use the colors and the theme of outlines. The Three Amigas Weekly Challenge was to use a non-favorite color. I do have a few. I never use teal, it's a difficult color for me to come up with combinations for. Here's proof that it works to look at photos, magazine pages, and the great outdoors for color combo inspiration! If you'd like to play along on the TAWC, just make a card, post it online and post a comment here with the link. Mark it TAWC2. Or post it on splitcoaststampers and use TAWC2 in the key words.
This is the card that I made with it, using my new Fifth Avenue Floral. I LOVE this stamp set! Look at what a beautiful card it is, and it's super easy to make! No fuss, the kind that you can pump out in 5 minutes. We'll be making this card at Kelly's workshop, coming up this next Saturday.
Supplies: Tangerine Tango, Taken With Teal, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White cardstock. Tangerine Tango, Taken With Teal, abd Chocolate Chip classic ink, Scallop Circles #2 Bigz Die, Big Shot, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 3/8" Chocolate Grosgrain.

Another new stamp set that I LOVE!!

O what a happy set this is! It's called Branch Out. You stamp the tree, then decide what else it needs. I added leaves in 3 different colors, a tire swing, bird house, and a red bird. I sponged the grass and the sky, then called it a card! The texture plate used on the Artichoke and Kraft is Grass from Fiskars. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the SU! texture plates next month. I used Happy Everything for the sentiment, pierced a line underneath the words, sponged a bit of Artichoke over the texture and used up some retired Vintage Brads. You can bet that I'll be using this set more often!

I have a new stamp set!!! :-)

Well, I have a couple of new stamp sets from the new catalog... and can I tell you how much I love them???!!! This stamp set is 5th Avenue Floral, part of Stampin' Up!'s new Manhattan collection. You'll be seeing a few new cards featuring this stamp set. Oh my, I love it! I stamped the flowers in StazOn Black on Naturals White cardstock, then watercolored using the aquapainter and the ink from the lids of my ink pads. The rest of the ingredients are lots of layers of cardstock (doesn't that make it look very finished off?), the color spritzer, glitter (of course!!!), and my Watercolor Vine jumbo wheel. Add a little paper piercing in the corner and you're done! Took me about 20 min. from an idea of colors to completed card - not bad! The colors are the color challenge of the day at SCS. I'll be offering a watercoloring class soon, so for my local customers, stay tuned. :-)

Scrapbook Page Inspired by a Calendar

Today's Inspiration Challenge was to go to Lang Calendars, choose a calendar, and make a project using that in- spiration. I needed some scrapbook pages for the 45th Anniversary of my parents, so I chose to convert this Calendar image to a scrapbook page. Using some retired Designer Paper, my retired Wild Rose stamp set and some cardstock the colors of the celebration, I created this page. I made a second page the mirror image of this one. I wish that I had that retired Peony set. That would have been stunning. Now, to add the pics.

New Texture Plate

Stampin' Up! has texture plates in the new catalog! While this isn't one of them (because I have to wait until Feb. 1st to place my next order ...bummer!) it's an example of what you can do with them. Just put your cardstock through the Big Shot with the texture plate and out comes a beautifully patterned card. This is a sympathy card for some friends of ours that just lost their mom to cancer. On the smaller silk flower, I colored a bit with my amethyst marker and then spread the color a bit with my aquapainter. Gives it a nice soft look. The flowers and half pearl (both from the Pretties Kit) are held in place with mini glue dots. I send the wide oval punched celery through the Big Shot with the texture plate, stamped "with sympathy" from the Beautiful Borders stamp set on white and punched it out with the large oval.

Two Posts in One Day!

This card is for a weekly challenge that I participate in with Sharon and Joanne. This week is to CASE (copy and steal everything) a card out of the new catalog. I chose a card on pg. 46. Of course I didn't have the new stamps, so had to make do with what I had. The flowers are from the new stamp set Sweet Stems and the flower pot is the round tab punch with Totally Tabs stamped on it. The colors are Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss, and Very Vanilla. Warm Wishes is from the Hugs and Wishes stamp set. Fun to CASE a card once in awhile instead of coming up with your own ideas all of the time.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting the Stamping Station!

Julie

Sneak Peek of SAB - Possible Idea for the Tea Party

Good Morning! I dropped the boys off at school and now it's time to post another card idea. This is for a shoebox swap that I'm going to on Sunday. The photo isn't very good, so please ignore the quality of the pic.
I folded my Pink Pirouette cardstock in half, then placed on the Top Note Die with the fold of the cardstock just below the top perforations. I repeated that with the Designer Paper from Sale-A-Bration. (Yes, this is a sneak peek!) I cut along the perforated line on the Designer Paper and smoothed out any roughness with my sanding block. The white greeting is a SAB stamp set - isn't it cute???!!! It's called Yummy. I love this one. I stamped it in Whisper White Craft after rubbing my Embossing Buddy across it. I sprinkled White Embossing Powder over it and heated until melted. Next, I used my cute embosslit for the Closes to Cocoa and Pink Pirouette flowers. I used a couple of Mini Glue Dots on the backs to adhere them to the DP, tied a bow and attached that with a Mini Glue Dot. Voila! A very simple and sweet card. This would also double great for a bag topper for Valentine's Day. Ok, off to cut the cardstock for this swap. Thanks for stopping by the Stamping Station.
Blessings,
Julie

Another Award!

I was sent this award by my wonderful friend, Joanne, aka sleepyinseattle! She's so sweet! I love her stamped creations and how she's able to pump out so much...amazing! Joanne, can I be you when I grow up? She sent me this awhile ago, but that was before I was following a lot of blogs. So, I'm sorry Joanne for the delay, but thank you for the honor!

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person or persons who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Ok, so here are the 6 random things about me:

1. I love to read. My most recent favorite is "The Yada Yada Prayer Group" by Neta Jackson.

2. My husband calls me the Christmas Queen. I have about 26 boxes of Christmas decorations, most of which are for my Dept. 56 Dickens Village.

3. I've had the honor of preparing some programs for funerals in our church recently. It fills me with a great sense of gravity and service, because I want it to be something special and to make the load that the family is carrying lighter.

4. I have a hard time using the color More Mustard in my stamping creations. I'm trying to get over it, LOL.

5. I used to have 40+ house plants, but now my time is taken between stamping and the computer.

6. I'm a recovering OCD person. I used to have to have all of my CD's in genre, then by artist, then in chronological order. My 3 sons cured me of that one after they pulled them all down hundreds of times! Now, there's no order in my life!

Here are the blogs that I'm tagging:

Diane's Designs

Stampin Maniac

Me Time

Bytes From Barb

Carrie Stamps

Scrap Everything

OK! There you go. Now I have to let everyone know.....

Blessings,

Julie
