Stamping with Junior High Students

Oh yeah! I was able to go to my oldest son's junior high class at Shoreline Christian School to stamp a card with them. The focus was the Big Shot, but I also had them doing a lot with the punches. We kept this fairly simple so that it would require little instruction and so that 21 kids who signed up for this could all make the card during one class period. The kids all did a wonderful job, some following the sample card and some going off on their own to make a completely different card. I love seeing how one card design can morph into many others. Hope you enjoyed the story. I'll post some graduation money holders next.

Here's Another Cutie, Courtesy of My Digital Studio

This is another page that I made yesterday. The background is from the Write Stuff II download. Isn't it great???!!! My Nate boy is playing his second year of baseball and is having fun. (Though the season seems a bit long to him.) He usually plays right field or third base. Ok, enough bragging. See how easy it is to use My Digital Studio? I used a photo layout, added text into the text boxes, added the "go team" and "game on" stamps and recolored them, lightened the photos and cropped them with MDS and then I'm done. Ta da! Can scrapbooking get any easier than that? And now I'll send them away for printing so that all of the colors will be exactly SU!, though I could just get them printed at Kinkos or Costco. I think I'll try a calendar next. :-) Yes, MDS also has calendar options.

My Digital Studio ... Easy to Journal

I was in the mood to post a scrapbook page today and what better subject than one of my boys. With My Digital Studio and the designer pages it's a quick click and drag with the photos, mat the photos with a SU! color, choose a background paper, add some journaling and stamps and you're done! She's So Cute!!!

Isn't this little Build-A-Bear a cutie??!! She's colored in with markers on Shimmery White cardstock and the dress and flower in the hair are paper-pieced. (Stamped on DSP, cut out, and glued on.) The DSP is Pawsitively Prints and the background texture is the Square Lattice Embossing Folder from the Summer Mini Catalog. Sorry about the bright sunshine on the card...unusual for the NW, but we love it!

Paper Piecing Bargello Style

My June Stampin' Success magazine from Stampin' Up! had a fun idea. Why not use the Bargello needlepoint style for paper crafting? On this card, I used my Neighborhood DSP from the SAB catalog, cut 3" x 1/4" strips plus one 3" x 1/2" strip to make this interesting background paper. I really like it! I wish it wasn't quite so sunny outside when I took the picture so that you could see the DSP better. The baby carriage image is from Fun & Fast Notes and the baby is from All in the Family. There are large polka dots on the Pretty in Pink background piece, made with the texture plate. I think this will make a great baby card for a couple of customers/friends who just had baby girls.

The Hard Disk Is Reformatted....

Yes, the hard drive was reformatted and I'm almost done reloading all of the programs. Wow, what a job! Thankfully, I heard the hard drive working really had and bought an external hard drive before it went kaput. And so, here we are, finally posting a couple of workshop projects. This first project uses the new Sweet Scoops stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog. I was quite afraid that it was too simple and the guests would be bored with it, but they really loved the simplicity of it! We used the kissing technique on the ice cream (bashful blue and ballet blue) and stamped the sentiment across the pumpkin strip. The DSP is the Build-A-Bear set. I really like it! We cut out the ice cream and popped it up on dimensionals.
This card was one of my favorites. We're going to make it at the next workshop as a Father's Day card. We used a Post it note to punch out a circle and sponge around for the sun. The sand was made with Itty Bitty Backgrounds and sponging. The inside of the card was the same scene as the main image, just enlarged. Fun! This card uses the new Tropical Party stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog. Can you tell by the number of times that I've used this stamp set that I love it?!
Ok, back to taking care of the family. The laundry just doesn't fold itself and the folding fairy has skipped over our house again. Bummer!

Sorry for the Delay....

Yes, I'm sorry for the delay in posting. My computer crashed and I'm having trouble uploading photos with my DH's laptop. I don't like it!

Ok, enough complaining. I made this card today for the Stampin' Addicts Sketch Challenge 51. I did rotate the sketch because I thought it would work better for this card. It's hard to see the color combo on here (again, because I don't have my own computer and editing program!) so I'll just tell you that I used Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, and Soft Suede. The stamp set is Tropical Party from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog. The little dots of Bermuda Bay are the sprinkles from the Sweet Scoops (ice cream cones) stamp set in the same Mini.

One More Before the Kids Get Home....

One more quick upload before the kids get home ... this is my take on Splitcoaststampers' sketch from this week. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this new stamp set from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog. The sand is Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Saffron and sponged over. The flower is 3 5-petal punches with the edges sponged in Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie. Yep, I used that gorgeous Square Lattice Embossing Folder again. :-)

Masculine Birthday Card (Inky Fingers Girls, DON'T LOOK! You might get one of these.)

I needed some inspiration for some swaps that I'm making for the Inky Fingers Swappers. I'm loving my new stamp set (Tropical Party) and embossing folder from the Summer Mini, which my customers will receive in the mail soon. Everything is spritzed with the Vanilla Smooch Spritz. I love the shimmer and it's so easy to use. For the background, I first stamped the trees and then the palm branches. After sending it through the Big Shot with the SU! Square Lattice Embossing Folder, I sponged the edges with the same color ink (Old Olive). I think everything else is self explanatory. The frame behind the greeting is from the Matchbox XL Die for the Big Shot. Yes, it's another exclusive die from Stampin' Up!

I won't be posting as often for the next few months...we have a junior higher in track and the two younger boys are in baseball, so we're running, running RUNNING! :-)

Hello Again!

Wow, it's great to be stamping again just for the fun of it! I received this stamp set at Convention, and I had yet to use it. Well, here's my first attempt. For inspiration, I used last week's sketch challenge on Stampin' Addicts. The color combo came from an Athleta swimwear catalog that arrived in the mail two days ago. I've provided the link so that you can find some color inspiration, too. So, what do you think of this color combo? It's Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White. I love how the color combo seems so cheery...that's probably what drew me to it.
And this is my youngest son, Zach. I just had to show off this photo because the story is so funny. He loves to make what he calls "original pizzas" which is Saltines, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni, cooked in the microwave. They're actually not too bad. What I thought was really funny was that he thought he ought to wear the kid apron and the dress up chef's hat to make them. What a nut!
