Adieu to Beautiful Borders

Not the best photo. Sorry about that. We made this card in a workshop almost a year ago. I'm so sad to see this stamp set go. After stamping the border image in Versamark on Very Vanilla, we embossed in Black. We colored in with Lovely Lilac and Old Olive and then highlighted with Elegant Eggplant and Always Artichoke. The button is a retired color, but you can make your own buttons with the button Sizzlit and your Big Shot. What??? You don't own one yet? Well, what are you waiting for...go ahead and click on that button on the right to go to my website where you can shop to your heart's content. :-D Me?? an enabler??? pshaw!

Good Bye Riding Hood Red

It's almost time to say goodbye to our current In Colors. While I love the new colors coming up, I'm going to have a hard time saying goodbye to the old ones. Riding Hood Red has been a wonderful color to work with.

This card is for a friend's birthday coming up. After cutting and folding my standard sized card, I put the fold toward the top of my large Scallop Bigz Die, making sure that some of the scallop was showing above the fold. After running it through the Big Shot, I ran a piece of Candy Lane DSP through with the Scallops #2 Bigz Die. This rose is made with the same technique that I've used previously on these Fifth Avenue Florals. (Reinker Spread Technique). A few sprays of leaves from the Little Leaves Sizzlit, some holes punched with my crop-a-dile and we're done! A fun card and not that hard. That's what I like!

Sneak Peek

Brown came by and brought some of my new things from the upcoming Idea Book & Catalog. Yahoo!!! I just love new stampin' stuff! The new in colors are really rich. I'm loving these three here. The background color is Rich Razzleberry, the flowers are Melon Mambo (now isn't that a stinkin' cute name?!) and the ribbon and stems are Bermuda Bay. My niece graduated from high school last Friday, so it was the perfect excuse to get my new supplies out and STAMP. I used the Flourish Texturz Plate from SU! and the Movers & Shapers Bigz XL Die for the body of the card. The DSP is Razzleberry Lemonade. I stamped the flowers and popped them up on dimensionals.
I don't have the new punch yet that coordinates with this movers & shapers die, so I used my word window. The greeting is from the new set Teeny Tiny Wishes. Just wait until you see all of the wonderful greetings in this set...you'll be blown away by all of the events that this set covers. I needed a pocket for the cash (no, it's not there in the pic because I didn't want you to know how much we gave) so I stamped a 2" tall piece of Bermuda and then attached it with Sticky Strip on 3 sides. It worked perfectly with the cash folded in half. The verse on the inside is from a retired set called In My Thoughts and the flowers are Flower Fancy. Some square Rhinestone Brads finish it off.

2 Retiring Stamp Sets and 3 Challenges All In One

I'll be very sad to say goodbye to these two stamp sets. Say It With Scallops was the Ronald McDonald House stamp set for this year. I totally love it. I think it's the best set for RMH that we've ever had. And Beautiful Borders is such an amazing set. It has beautiful border images and wonderful sentiments. I will greatly miss these two.



I've combined 3 challenges for this card. The first two challenges are from Stampin' Addicts (SA). I love this site because it's SUO, which mean Stampin' Up! Only. Handy, when you're looking for ideas for your new stamp sets. It's a fairly young website, so feel free to add to their galleries. I used Sketch Challenge 14 and Accessories Challenge 6.3, linked for your convenience. The color combo is from Splitcoaststampers (SCS). This is another website that I frequent. You can click on the SU! galleries to find some ideas for the stamp sets that you own. Today's Clean and Simple challenge on SCS was to use Kraft, Pink/Coral, and one coordinating color of our choice. I wanted to do a quick card, so punched out designer paper squares and white. It went really fast! The small strip of white at the bottom is the leftover from the eyelet punch. I just can't throw that away. It's a perfect, small strip. I popped the scallop square up on dimensionals and then popped up the "for you" sentiment on dimensionals also. The other thing on this card that I'm not ready to say goodbye to is the Riding Hood Red Taffeta. I've gone through multiple spools of this ribbon. Gorgeous! And it also coordinates well with Ruby Red, so if you like it, grab a spool before they're gone.

Supplies: Beautiful Borders & Say It With Scallops stamp sets. Kraft, Whisper White, and Riding Hood Red cardstocks. Bella Rose DSP. Pink Pirouette Classic Ink. Eyelet Border, 1 1/4", 1 3/8", and Scallop Square Punches. Riding Hood Red Taffeta & Mini Glue Dots.

Golden Daisy

Here's a card that we made at Friday night's workshop. It was inspired by a card that Stampin' Up! had on the website. Only demo's have access to these samples, so there's another benefit to signing up as a demo. After punching a scallop circle out of Summer Sun cardstock, we sponged the edges in Tangerine Tango and then cut into the scallop to create the petals. A 1/2" Tangerine circle is behind that gorgeous Filigree Brad. The leaves are small ovals, folded lengthwise and run through the crimper. Photo corners punched and paper piercing through the Good Morning Sunshine DSP finish off this simple and fun card.

Wax Paper Technique

This is the technique that is featured in my June newsletter. How fun! I found this technique on the challenge thread on Stampin' Addicts. This card has the wax paper pattern on the background Tangerine Tango. First, you wad up a piece of wax paper. Place a piece of copy paper on your ironing board (yes, you do have to get it out! :-D But it's ok to get it out for stamping...maybe not clothing.) Put a piece of cardstock on the copy paper, then put the straightened out piece of wax paper over that, then place another piece of cardstock down over the wax paper (this way you get to make 2 cards with one technique!) and cover again with a piece of copy paper. Iron on medium, without steam, flip the cardstock sandwich over and repeat.
For my second piece of cardstock, I used Glossy White. After the Wax Paper Technique, I sponged color onto it. That subtle background of Bashful Blue and Kiwi Kiss is the effect that this will leave. I stamped my Ocean Commotion stamps on Vellum Paper and cut them out so that it would look like it was all underwater. To adhere the vellum to the glossy cardstock, I covered the back with SU! glue stick. It doesn't show if you cover the whole back of the vellum. And even though the color combo is a little unusual, I like the way it turned out.

Supplies for the 1st card: Hit the Road and It's a Sign stamp sets. Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, retired DSP. Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive markers. Blender Pen.

Supplies for the 2nd card: Ocean Commotion stamp set. Kiwi Kiss, Creamy Caramel, Bashful Blue, and Glossy White cardstocks. Vellum Paper. Always Artichoke, Kiwi Kiss, Creamy Caramel, Bordering Blue, Basic Black, and Bashful Blue ink. Sponges.

Eastern Blooms on a Sketch Challenge

I love my SU! DSP! This is a card of unusual size that we're making at tomorrow night's workshop. I used the layout from Sketch Challenge 12 at Stampin Addicts. The DSP is from the exclusive hostess set. Eastern Blooms is stamped in Brocade Blue and stamped off for the lighter color. The larger flowers have 2-Way glue and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Like it? CASEing my Blogging Buddy

My blogging buddy Georgeann made this adorable card and I just had to CASE her. (Copy And Share Everything.) Georgeann has beautiful card ideas and you should see her watercoloring!
This is a THO project for Friday night's workshop and I really love it. I didn't have all of the supplies to replicate Georgeann's card exactly, so I made do with my Good Morning Sunshine DSP and the Pacific Point cardstock and ink. That color has been severely neglected by me, so it was definitely time to fix that! I love how simple this was to put together. It's a perfect way to show how a bit of DSP goes a long, long way. The little strip of blue over the DSP is the strip that you get after using the scallop edge punch. Nothing goes to waste, right? :-D Oh, and don't forget that the Stampin' Up! special on Designer Series Papers ends on Sunday. So you want that 4th pack free? Fifth Avenue Florals

I just love water- coloring these flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral. They're such gorgeous images and look so great with watercoloring. Of course, you don't HAVE to color them. They look great as an outline image also. This little notebook is something that I've wanted to do for awhile. I had some extra lilies from watercoloring a few days ago. I used my round tab punch to make two sections: color combinations and sketches. The spiral punch allowed me to completely cover the front of the notebook. Isn't that cool??!! This way I can have the notebook along with me, write down ideas and not lose them because they're on a scrap piece of paper. I don't know about you, but looking through magazines while waiting for an appointment is prime time for finding inspiration.
This is a special thank you to a special lady who gives of her time so freely to our school. We love her dearly and want her to know that. This card had to be special to convey that thought, so I used more watercolored flowers and my Damask texture plate. The thank you is from Beautiful Borders, a lovely set.
So, do I have you convinced yet about his technique? Want to hold a workshop so that you can learn this one? Give me a shout out. I still have a spot left in June, which would be taking advantage of the "Last Call" list before a huge number of stamp sets retire. Or July, when the new catalog is out and everyone wants to see it.

It's a Sign!

Ack! I can't believe it's been since Thursday since I posted. Life sure has a way of flying. On Friday, my kids took part in their school's jog-a-thon. Prizes are usually given to the kids who earn the most money. This first card is for the highest earners in each class. It will be given to them with their prizes. There are a few retired items on this card, but I don't think the kids will mind.
This second card is for the top earners of the whole elementary. I used the glitter window technique for the yellow stars. Do you like the striped Pacific Point cardstock? It's from my Sizzix texture plates that I bought through SU. I just love the 3-D look that the texture plates give.

Well, that's it for now. Just had to share these cards with you. I'll be back (hopefully tomorrow) with more of the watercolored Fifth Avenue flowers.
